Pakistan: Imran Khan's Wife Bushra Bibi Gets Bail In Toshkhana-II Case
Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, has been granted bail in the Toshakhana-II case. She was released from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where she had been imprisoned for approximately nine months. Her release was under tight security, and she returned to her residence in Bani Gala to meet with leaders of the Pakistan-Tehreek-I-Insaaf (PTI) party.
Bushra Bibi's bail was set at Rs 10 lacs, as reported by Ary News. Her release is significant because it positions her as a key figure within PTI's leadership while Imran Khan remains incarcerated. The PTI shared details of her release on X, highlighting the political context surrounding her imprisonment and subsequent bail.

The Islamabad High Court granted Bushra Bibi bail in the Toshakhana-II case. However, she still faces other legal challenges, including the Iddat case and Toshakhana-I case. These cases have kept her embroiled in legal battles alongside her husband, Imran Khan.
Background on Legal Cases
On July 13, both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were arrested following a new National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference related to Toshakhana. This arrest came shortly after their acquittal in the Iddat case. The Iddat case involved allegations that Islamic marriage customs were not followed before their marriage.
In February of this year, a trial court found their Nikah fraudulent and sentenced them to seven years in prison along with a substantial fine. This ruling added another layer of complexity to their ongoing legal issues.
Toshakhana Scandal Overview
The Toshakhana-II case is linked to the earlier Toshakhana-I scandal that caused a stir in Pakistan. Former Prime Minister Khan faced accusations of not disclosing gifts received from foreign dignitaries during his tenure. Allegedly, he sold these gifts directly on the market without depositing them into Pakistan's national treasury.
Prosecutors highlighted specific instances like the Bulgari set gifted by the Saudi Crown Prince in 2021. They claimed Imran Khan undervalued this gift's market price and retained it without proper disclosure to the state.
Bushra Bibi's release marks a pivotal moment for PTI amid ongoing political turmoil and legal battles involving its top leaders. As she steps into a more prominent role within the party, her actions could significantly influence PTI's future direction while navigating these challenges.
