Pakistan: IED Explosion at Cricket Match in Bajaur Kills One, Injures Children

At least one person was killed and several others injured in an explosion at a cricket stadium in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday, according to officials cited by Dawn.

The blast took place at Kausar Cricket Ground in Khar tehsil of Bajaur district. District Police Officer Waqas Rafique confirmed that the explosion was a targeted attack, carried out using an improvised explosive device (IED).

Authorities reported that one man died in the incident, while several others - including children - sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Officials also stated that the attackers attempted a second strike on a local police station, but the assault failed to hit its target. So far, no terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for the bombing.
