Pakistan Election Result 2024 Highlights: Who Are The Winners And Losers In Polls?

All eyes are focused on one thing: the election results, where Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led by Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed Independents are engaged in a battle, with Pakistan People's Party led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari coming in third.

According to data provided by Pakistan's Election Commission, 62 seats have been won by PTI-backed candidates, 46 seats have been secured by PML-N, and 39 seats have been obtained by PPP. Nine seats have been won by others, as per Geo News reports.

Nawaz Sharif

A win has been secured by Nawaz Sharif, who is attempting to secure a fourth term as prime minister, from the NA-130 seat in Lahore. According to media reports, he has been secured 171,024 votes, surpassing PTI-backed Dr. Yasmin Rashid who received 115,043 votes.

Dr. Rashid, former Punjab health minister, is facing a court trial in connection with the 9 May riots and has been unable to run her election campaign. However, it was not all good news for Sharif. He faced a significant defeat against independent candidate Shahzada Gastasap in NA-15 Mansehra constituency. Gastasap clinched 105,249 votes, while Nawaz managed to secure only 80,382 votes.

The seat in Lahore's National Assembly Constituency NA 119 has been won by Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of Nawaz Sharif, with 83,855 votes. This marks her first victory in a National Assembly seat. While 83,855 votes were secured by her, PTI-backed Shehzad Farooq, her closest rival, clinched 68,376 votes, reported Pakistan media outlet.

The PP-158 seat in Lahore has been won by former prime minister and PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif with 38,642 votes, according to preliminary results from the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Shehbaz had served as Pakistan's PM after Imran Khan's ouster in April 2022. The post was relinquished by him last August, and the coalition government with PPP was dissolved.

Lahore's NA-118 seat has been secured by PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz, the son of Shehbaz Sharif, with 105,960 votes. He was defeated by PTI-backed independent candidate Aliya Hamza, who managed to garner 100,803 votes.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

The NA-196 seat in Qamber Shahdadtkot-I has been won by PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, securing 85,370 votes, as reported by Dawn citing provisional results from the ECP.

He is currently leading in the NA-127 Lahore constituency. In this race, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is being contested by PML-N's Attahullah Tarrar, PTI-backed Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI)'s Syed Ihsan Ullah Waqas.

Additionally, the NA-194 constituency has been secured by Zardari with 131,217 votes, according to Samaa TV. The aspiration for the post of prime minister is held by the Bhutto scion. In 2022, he served as the foreign minister in the PML(N)-PPP coalition government led by Shehbaz Sharif.

A landslide victory was secured by former president Asif Ali Zardari in Shaheed Benazirabad with 1,46,989 votes, while the runner-up was Sardar Sher Muhammad Rind Baloch, a PTI-backed independent candidate, with 51,916 votes.

Gohar Ali Khan

In NA-10 in Buner, victory has been achieved by PTI leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, garnering 1,10,023 votes, as per data provided by the polling body in Pakistan. Awami National Party's Abdul Rauf came second with 30,302 votes.

Talha Saeed

According to Pakistani media cited by ANI, the NA 122 seat in Lahore has been won by PTI-backed Latif Khosa with 117,109 votes, while PML-N candidate Khawaja Saad Rafique received 77,907 votes. Talha Saeed, the son of terrorist Muhammad Hafiz Saeed, could only manage 2,024 votes and lost the election.

Candidates from Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML), the political entity associated with Hafiz Saeed, were fielded for every national and provincial assembly constituency.

Fazlur Rehman

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief was thrashed by PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur with 93,443 votes to 59,922 votes.
