Pakistan Election Countdown: Ballot Papers Reach Constituencies, Setting Stage for Historic Vote

Efficient Dispatch Despite Challenges

The ECP successfully dispatched the ballot papers through both ground and air transportation, overcoming challenges posed by inclement weather. The commission's dedicated staff worked tirelessly to ensure that all voters can exercise their right to vote in an organized and efficient manner.

Increased Paper Usage and Printing Process

The printing of ballot papers was carried out at three government presses, with some papers requiring reprinting due to court decisions on candidacy-related petitions. A significant increase in paper usage was observed, with 2,170 tonnes utilized this time compared to 2018. The total number of ballot papers printed reached 260 million, marking a 40 million increase from the previous election.

Central Control and Monitoring Centre

To address any election-related complaints, the ECP has established the Central Control and Monitoring Centre. The centre has received 221 complaints of various nature, and 198 of them have been promptly addressed. The ECP will utilize the Election Management System (EMS) to relay the election results, with ongoing efforts to resolve any concerns raised by returning officers regarding the system.

Caretaker Government's Role

Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi announced that over 120 million people are eligible to vote on February 8. The caretaker government has extended full support to the ECP in facilitating the polls. Solangi emphasized that the country will be governed by elected representatives in accordance with the Constitution.

As Pakistan prepares for its general election, the successful delivery of ballot papers and the establishment of a robust monitoring system demonstrate the ECP's commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process. With the active participation of voters, the nation moves closer to electing its representatives and shaping its political future.
