Pakistan Claims It Shot Down Two Indian Jets Amid Fuel Tank Drop During Operation Sindoor

Pakistan's security sources claimed that its air force has shot down two Indian jets in retaliation for the Indian strikes on terror targets in Pakistan-occupied territory. A statement aired on Pakistan's state broadcaster PTV News said:

"Pakistani forces are responding forcefully to India's aggression."

According to unnamed security sources, PTV added that all Pakistani air force aircraft are safe and that the armed forces are giving a "befitting reply" to India. However, these claims have no official confirmation.

Pakistan Claims It Shot Down Two Indian Jets India Denies Jet Crash Amid Fuel Tank Drop

Meanwhile, social media has been flooded with fake images and videos falsely claiming to show Indian aircraft being shot down. One such image, widely circulated as evidence of a destroyed Indian jet, has been debunked as outdated and unrelated. The image in question is actually from a MiG-29 fighter jet crash that occurred in Rajasthan's Barmer district in September 2024.

In a social media post, DG ISPR falsely stated that all Pakistan Air Force planes were airborne, despite the fact that the strikes were carried out by India from its own airspace.

All claims made by Pakistani media outlets are not connected to the current military strikes.

Pakistani media outlets also claimed a retaliatory missile strike on an Indian Brigade Headquarters, though these assertions lack evidence .

On the ground in Jammu and Kashmir, residents in Pampore and Akhnoor reported loud booms and debris falling from the sky. These were later identified as fuel drop tanks jettisoned during high-altitude maneuvers.

The fog of conflict continues to obscure real-time details, with open-source tracking data and defence watchers offering limited clarity.

These developments follow India's launch of Operation Sindoor, a targeted military action against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The strikes came in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, including one Nepali citizen.

Both India and Pakistan remain on high alert, with tensions running high across the Line of Control (LoC). Authorities are urging caution against misinformation and stress the importance of relying on official updates.
