Pakistan Army Officer, 3 Soldiers Killed In Terrorist Encounter In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Four men including three soldiers and an army officer, lost their lives during a recent intelligence-led operation to counter terrorist activities in Pakistan's Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. This operation is part of Pakistan's ongoing efforts to combat terrorism within the region, which has been plagued by frequent attacks, causing mounting concerns for both the military and the government.
Those martyred have been identified as Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Haider, Naik Khushdil Khan (31), Naik Rafique Khan (27), and Lance Naik Abdul Qadir (33. Reports suggest the operation was executed based on critical intelligence reports.

During the operation, Pakistani forces, led by Lieutenant Colonel Haider, successfully neutralized three terrorists. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has confirmed that a sanitization operation is now underway to eradicate any remaining terrorists in the region.
The funeral of the soldiers in Peshawar district saw the presence of the Corps commander, numerous serving officers, soldiers, civil officials, and members of the general public.
Pakistan's Prime Minister, Anwaar-ul Haq Kakar, expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of the three security forces officials and the Pakistan army officer, praising their dedication and pledging to continue the fight against terrorism in the nation. He declared that Pakistan would not allow the impure ambitions of those who seek to disrupt the country's peace to succeed.
Former President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, also reacted to the incident, vowing that the sacrifices of these soldiers would not go in vain.
Just two days prior to this incident, terrorists launched an attack on the Mianwali Training Air Base of the Pakistani Air Force. However, Pakistani security forces thwarted the attack, resulting in the elimination of all nine terrorists involved. The ISPR reported that none of Pakistan's operational assets were damaged during the attack, but some phased-out and non-operational aircraft sustained harm.
Pakistan has been plagued with such attacks in various parts of the country recently. In Dera Ismail Khan, two policemen lost their lives, and three others were injured during a terrorist attack on an oil and gas company, also located in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. According to a news report, this incident marked the fifth terrorist attack in the region within the past five days. Furthermore, a police station was targeted in another terrorist attack, resulting in one constable being injured. Prior to these incidents, a bomb blast targeting a police van claimed the lives of six people and left more than 30 others injured.
Disturbingly, a recent report indicates that nearly 400 individuals have lost their lives, and around 440 have been injured in nearly 190 terrorist attacks during the third quarter of 2023. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has unfortunately emerged as the epicentre of terrorist activities within Pakistan, with a staggering 94% of all fatalities and 89% of attacks occurring within this region. The nation remains committed to confronting the menace of terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
