Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reaffirmed the nation's support for its security forces, stating that the country stood united to "eliminate terrorism from the nation."

Suicide Attack Follows Deadly Train Hijacking

The suicide bombing occurred just days after militants from the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) attacked the Jaffar Express on Tuesday, which was carrying 440 passengers through the mountainous terrain of Gudalar and Piru Kunri.

The militants killed 21 passengers and four paramilitary soldiers before the Pakistan Army eliminated all 33 insurgents on Wednesday.

Pakistan Witnessed 1,081 Terror Attacks in 2024: Report

According to the Global Terrorism Index 2025 report, Pakistan experienced a staggering 45% increase in terrorism-related fatalities, with deaths rising from 748 in 2023 to 1,081 in 2024. This sharp surge placed Pakistan second globally in terms of terrorist attacks, moving up from its previous fourth position.

The report highlighted that the number of attacks attributed to the TTP reached an all-time high in 2024, with deaths caused by the group at their highest levels since 2011.

Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which share a border with Afghanistan, remained the most severely impacted provinces, accounting for over 96% of all terrorist attacks and deaths in Pakistan in 2024.

On March 6, at least nine people were killed and 16 injured when two explosive-laden vehicles rammed into the boundary wall of the main cantonment in Bannu, northwest Pakistan. Security forces successfully neutralised at least six militants during the attack.
