Pak election candidate’s bizarre campaigning from manhole, garbage pit
Karachi, July 3: Electioneering has always been a golden opportunity for politicians to strengthen their public relations exercise and make up for the wasted time. They also tend to make the exercise unique in all possible ways to catch maximum headlines and gain political mileage.
In Pakistan, too, the politicians have learnt the art fast even though the country's democratic journey has been short so far. Recently, an independent candidate from Karachi (constituency NA-243 besides PS-110 and PS-111) named Ayaz Memon Motiwala beat everybody else by conducting his unique campaign before the July 25 national and provincial elections whereby he sat on a pile of garbage, lied on sewage water and sat inside manholes and sought votes.
Motiwala posted videos and photos of his bizarre campaigning both on his Facebook and Twitter pages (the FB photos were posted as early as September 2017) and they were liked and shared several thousand times. While some called the act as sheer drama, there were also others who supported the man who is contesting with the symbol of Aam Aadmi Pakistan.
In a Facebook post, Motiwala was also seen holding the country's national flag while sitting in the dirty water.
