Pak Army Chief Gen Munir Commits to Supporting Government's Development Goals
Islamabad, April 26: In a significant move towards bolstering Pakistan's economic development, General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), announced the armed forces' full support for the government's initiatives. Speaking at the Green Pakistan Initiative (GPI) Conference, General Munir highlighted the nation's potential for growth, emphasizing the industrious nature of its people and the importance of unity for national development. The conference, which also saw participation from key ministers, focused on the GPI's role in enhancing agricultural productivity and ensuring food security across Pakistan.

The COAS articulated the army's commitment to aiding Pakistan's economic journey, stating that their efforts would significantly contribute to comprehensive national security and the collective well-being of the country. General Munir's message was clear: by working as a united team, Pakistan could overcome any negative forces and propaganda aimed at hindering its progress. He assured that with the support of its citizens, the armed forces would defeat any adversaries obstructing Pakistan's path to development and prosperity.
Supporting Agriculture through GPI
The GPI Conference shed light on various initiatives aimed at revolutionizing Pakistan's agriculture sector. The ministers present, including Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Planning and Development, and Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister for National Food Security, praised the GPI as a transformative step for the country. They recognized agriculture as Pakistan's lifeline and expressed optimism that the initiative would introduce modern best practices in farming.
Key aspects of the GPI include establishing model farms, implementing water management schemes, introducing technology innovations, and forming investment partnerships. These efforts are expected to modernize farming on 4.4 million acres of land nationwide. The government anticipates that these agricultural advancements will generate approximately USD 40 billion over the next five years and create four million jobs, marking a significant stride towards economic enhancement with the support of the armed forces and international partners.
The involvement of Pakistan's powerful army in supporting economic initiatives marks a pivotal moment for the country. Historically influential in security and foreign policy matters, the army's backing of projects like GPI signifies a broadened focus on internal development and prosperity. With concerted efforts from both military and civilian sectors, Pakistan aims to usher in a new era of agricultural productivity and economic stability.
