Over 100 schools in Peshawar renamed after attack victims

Peshawar, Mar 5: Over 100 schools in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province were today renamed after the students massacred by the Taliban here last year.

The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa renamed 107 schools after the name of students of Army Public School who were brutally killed by Taliban attackers in the December 16 carnage, according to an official statement.

The Government Schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been renamed in memory of the students of Army Public School & College who were killed in the attack, it said.

The government schools in the native districts of the students all over the province have been renamed after the name of the martyred students.

As many as 61 schools in Peshawr district, 10 in Charsadda, five in Nowshera, four each in Mardan, Malakand and Kohat districts, three in Karak district, two each in Abbotabad, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, and Swabi districts, and one each in Tank, Chitral, Dir Lower, Haripur, and Mansehra districts have been renamed after the martyred students.

On December 16 2014, seven gunmen affiliated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban (TTP) conducted a terrorist attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar killing 150 people, including 132 school children.
