Over 100 rape cases filed in Lahore in 2013

Islamabad, Sept 15: A total of 113 cases of rape have been registered in Pakistan's Lahore metropolis this year, in which 86 accused have been arrested, a media report said Sunday.

As many as 62 cases have been "resolved" during the period Jan 1-Aug 31, according to official statistics available with the Dawn.

Police told Dawn most of the victims were teenaged girls.

Police registered 32 cases of gangrape in the eight months, in which 22 accused were arrested.

However, in 24 cases investigations showed the charges of rape were fake, police said.
