Oscar win will accelerate script work for 'RRR' sequel: SS Rajamouli

When will SS Rajamouli begin his sequel to the blockbuster movie 'RRR'? This is the one question that many cine-goers have been asking for months now.

Well, the director has now said that after the movie won an award at the Oscars, they will speed up the script work, which will be written by SS Rajamouli's father KV Vijayendra Prasad.

"Obviously, [Oscar win] is going to put some acceleration in the script. Definitely, yes, let's see," he told Hollywood trade magazine Variety. However, Oscar Award-winning musician MM Keeravani added that the progress of the sequel was a "tricky question."

It is interesting to note that SS Rajamouli did not have plans of a sequel to 'RRR'. The thought of making a sequel came up only after the movie got pan-India acceptance.

In an interview last year, he told Variety, "After the international success, when the topic came up again, my cousin [MM Keeravaani] - who is also a part of my core team - gave an idea which we felt like, 'Oh my God, this is a great idea. This is the idea that is worth pursuing.'"

The 'Baahubali' creator then asked his writer-father to work on the script. "At present, he's seriously working on the story; he's getting it done. But once this script is done is when we really look into how to make it, when to make it, and how to bring it onto the screen," he added.

SS Rajamouli's period action blockbuster 'RRR' charted history by becoming the first Indian track to win the Academy Award in the Best Original Song category for 'Naatu Naatu'.

This was the third major international recognition for the chartbuster 'Naatu Naatu', composed by MM Keeravaani and penned by Chandrabose, after a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award.
