Operation Sindoor Mystery Deepens: Was Kirana Hills Hit? Satellite Images Say Yes
New satellite imagery has reignited debate over India's alleged missile strike on Pakistan's Kirana Hills during Operation Sindoor, despite earlier denials from the Indian government.
The site in question, located in Pakistan's Sargodha district, is a high-security zone reportedly linked to its nuclear programme. This makes the development particularly sensitive amid regional tensions.

The strike, said to have occurred on May 10, was reportedly in retaliation for a deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam that left 26 people dead. Satellite images now circulating on social media have added fuel to the claims. Shared by geo-intelligence analyst Damien Symon on X, the images were sourced via Google Earth and captured in June 2025. According to Symon, they show the impact site of the alleged Indian strike inside the Kirana Hills area.
The satellite images have sparked intense speculation on Twitter, where users are widely sharing and debating the alleged Indian strike on Kirana Hills.
"Imagery update from Google Earth of the Sargodha region, Pakistan, captured in June 2025, shows: 1. The impact location of India's strike on Kirana Hills in May 2025;
2. Repaired runways at Sargodha airbase post-India's strikes in May 2025," Symon posted.
Alongside Kirana Hills, satellite visuals also point to rapid repairs at the nearby Sargodha airbase-another key military installation. Analysts suggest the visible repairs could indicate that the base was also hit during the same operation and is of significant strategic importance to Pakistan's defense infrastructure.
Kirana Hills and Its Reported Nuclear Connections
Kirana Hills has long been suspected of housing components of Pakistan's nuclear weapons infrastructure. It is believed to contain underground storage units and is known to have hosted subcritical nuclear tests in the 1980s.
Despite the mounting visual evidence, Pakistan has made no official comment on any possible damage to its installations. The Indian side, too, has publicly denied the reports.
During a press briefing on May 12, Air Marshal AK Bharti responded to a question about the Kirana Hills strike with a hint of sarcasm: "Thank you for telling us that Kirana Hills houses some nuclear installations. We did not know about it. We have not hit Kirana Hills." His wry smile during the remark only intensified speculation about whether India targeted the sensitive site or not.
