Operation Epic Fury: US Deploys Stealth Bombers, Drones And Advanced Jets In Strike On Iran

The United States, working closely with Israel, has carried out a large-scale military operation against Iran named Operation Epic Fury. The operation began on February 27 and targeted several important Iranian military and naval sites.

According to US officials, the main goal of the operation was to remove what they described as immediate threats to American forces and regional allies. The strikes were also meant to send a clear message to Iran regarding its nuclear programme and military activities.

Key Targets Across Iran

The strikes reportedly focused on missile facilities, naval bases, and strategic military areas. Some of the locations targeted were said to be close to offices linked to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

The US military stated that the operation was carefully planned to weaken Iran's ability to launch missile attacks and disrupt maritime security in the region.

• Low-cost, one-way attack drones inspired by Iranian designs, reportedly used in combat for the first time

Using different types of weapons allowed the US to strike several targets at the same time. This approach also reduced the risk to pilots and increased the operation's speed and precision.

The Central Command released a list of major assets used during Operation Epic Fury.

These included:

• B-2 stealth bombers
• Fighter jets such as F-18, F-16, F-22, A-10, and F-35
• EA-18G electronic warfare aircraft
• Airborne early warning and control aircraft
• Airborne communication relay systems
• P-8 maritime patrol aircraft
• RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft
• MQ-9 Reaper drones
• M-142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS)
• Patriot and THAAD missile defence systems
• Nuclear-powered aircraft carriers
• Guided-missile destroyers
• Counter-drone systems
• Refuelling tanker aircraft and naval support ships
• Cargo aircraft such as C-17 and C-130

Officials also mentioned that some additional "special capabilities" were used, but details were not disclosed for security reasons.

Strategic Message to Iran

US officials said the operation was not only about immediate military targets but also about long-term deterrence. By deploying a wide range of advanced systems, the United States aimed to show that it can respond quickly and with strong force if its troops or allies are threatened.

The operation also highlights the close military coordination between the US and Israel in dealing with regional security challenges.
