Search Ongoing for Crew After Oil Tanker Capsizes in Arabian Sea off Oman
Search teams have rescued nine crew members, mostly Indians, and recovered the body of another after an oil tanker capsized in the Arabian Sea. The incident occurred earlier this week off the coast of Oman, as reported by Omani state media.

The MT Prestige Falcon capsized late Monday, approximately 25 nautical miles southeast of Oman’s Ras Madrakah area. The cause of the capsizing and the condition of the tanker and its cargo remain unknown. The Indian Navy, which dispatched a warship to assist in the search operations, noted that rescue teams faced rough seas and strong winds.
Rescue Operations Amidst Rough Seas
In a statement on Wednesday, the Indian Navy confirmed that eight Indians and another crew member had been rescued. Both Indian and Omani teams are continuing their search for others. The crew consisted of 13 Indians and three Sri Lankans.
Oman’s state news agency reported that, along with the nine rescued individuals, one other crew member had died. The 117-metre-long Prestige Falcon was flying the flag of Comoros and was carrying oil products from Hamriya port in the United Arab Emirates to Aden port in Yemen.
