New York: Held for shoplifting, jailed for human foetus in bag

, Oct 18:Even the police guards would not have expected this when they stopped two 17-year old girls for suspected shoplifting at a Victoria Secret's store. On searching their bags, the police's attention was drawn to a strong stench in one of the bags.

They were immediately placed under arrest after medical check up. One of them who was taken to the Bellevue hospital is suspected to have given birth recently.

"It was a human foetus," said Sergeant John Buthorn. "The medical examiner will now determine the cause of death."
