Just hours before his scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Washington, US President Donald Trump posted a cryptic message on Truth Social. US President wrote, "Three great weeks, perhaps the best ever, but today is the big one: reciprocal tariffs!!! Make America Great Again!!!"

As PM Modi begins his two-day visit to the United States, trade and tariffs are expected to be key discussion points during his meeting with Trump at the White House. Trump's post follows his repeated calls for implementing reciprocal tariffs, a policy aimed at ensuring that US import duties match the tax rates imposed by other countries.

Trump has long criticised what he calls unfair trade practices, arguing that lower tariffs on American goods put the US at a disadvantage.

Trump had earlier stated,''It's time to be reciprocal. You'll be hearing that word a lot. Reciprocal. If they charge us, we charge them.''

His latest remarks have fueled speculation about potential new tariffs on India, adding a layer of uncertainty to the high-profile diplomatic talks.
