, Nov 29: When American coffee giant Starbucks opened its first store in Bangalore recently, many lined up to get a taste of the famous coffee it served. According to a report by the Associated News Network [

], Americans recently waited in huge queues just to get a taste of the humble masala dosa in New York.

Giving a taste of the simple yet delicious South Indian fare, Indian fast food joint- New Shanthi Sagar opened its first outlet in New York recently.

The company plans to open two more stores by the end of the year

Speaking to the reporters at the opening of the outlet, New Shanthi Sagar Group president-Asia Pacific Sadanand Shetty said that they wanted to take the Indian delicacies across the world. "In the US, Indian delicacies are famous for their spicy curries. We not only sell vadas and masala dosas in our stores here but also want to take it across the world," he said.

In the recent years the number of McDonalds and other fast food outlets have shut thereby opening up vast opportunities for overseas investors and New Shanthi Sagar seems to be making the most of it, offering Indian cuisine like idly, vada, dosa, puri sagu, khara bath and kesari bath to name a few.

The company reports suggest plans to open two more outlets by the end of the year.

Hundreds were present on the opening day of the outlet.
