During her meeting with Modi, Rana conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Prime Minister Oli. Focus on Bilateral Relations

Rana had a bilateral meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. They reviewed various aspects of Nepal-India relations, including trade, transit, energy, connectivity, investment, air routes, flood management, Pancheshwor Multi-purpose Project, sports, and border infrastructure. Both sides agreed to continue engagements through regular bilateral mechanisms.

Geographical and Economic Ties

Nepal shares a border of over 1,850 km with five Indian states: Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. As a landlocked country, Nepal relies heavily on India for transporting goods and services.

Deuba began her five-day trip to India on Sunday, marking her first official trip abroad since assuming office. Her visit underscores the significance of maintaining robust bilateral relations between Nepal and India.

The discussions during Rana's visit aimed at further consolidating the already strong ties between the two nations. Both sides expressed their commitment to continuing engagements at various levels to foster mutual cooperation.

The invitation extended by Prime Minister Oli for Modi's state visit signifies the importance of high-level interactions in strengthening bilateral relations. The acceptance of this invite by Modi reflects India's commitment to nurturing its relationship with Nepal.

The ongoing momentum in high-level engagements between Nepal and India is expected to pave the way for enhanced cooperation in various sectors. This will benefit both countries economically and strategically.

The leaders' focus on issues like trade, energy, and connectivity highlights their commitment to addressing mutual concerns and exploring new areas of collaboration. This approach aims at fostering a more robust partnership between the two nations.

The visit by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to Kathmandu prior to Rana's trip indicates continuous efforts from both sides to maintain strong diplomatic ties. These visits are crucial in addressing bilateral issues and exploring new avenues for cooperation.

The age-old Roti Beti relationship between Nepal and India remains a cornerstone of their bilateral ties. This cultural bond continues to play a significant role in shaping their diplomatic interactions.

The geographical proximity and economic interdependence between Nepal and India necessitate regular high-level engagements. These interactions ensure that both countries can address mutual concerns effectively and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
