Nepal Plane Crash: First Visuals Out

The first visuals of the Nepal plane crash on Wednesday have hit the internet. The incident occurred at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu in Nepal.

A Saurya Airlines aircraft crashed on Wednesday and 19 people were aboard the Pokhara-bound plane out of which 18 have been killed.

The accident happened when a Pokhara-bound flight veered off the runway during takeoff, according to TIA spokesperson Subash Jha.The plane encountered trouble shortly after departure.

In an update, the Tribhuvan International Airport said: "CRJ7 (Reg-9NAME) of Sourya Airlines took off from Kathmandu at 11:11 am local time during the flight to Pokhara, turned right and crashed at a place on the east side of the runway. It is reported that the fire was brought under control and the rescue work was started immediately. The dead bodies of 18 people were recovered and 1 injured person was rescued and taken to the hospital."

The lone survivor is 37-year-old Manish Shakya, the pilot who was rescued from the plane. He has been rushed to the KMC Hospital in Sinamangal.

Meanwhile, the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has been closed following the crash on Wednesday morning, affecting dozens of flights. The shutdown includes all outbound and inbound flights to the Airport.

Several clips of the plane crash have emerged which show thick smoke billowing from the airport.
