Nepal Parliament adjourned as deadline ends for new constitution
Kathmandu, Jan 31: Nepal's political parties missed a deadline to draft a new constitution that expired tonight, as Parliament session here ended without agreeing on its draft amid chaotic scenes.
Chairman of Constituent Assembly Subhash Nembang adjourned the Parliament at 11.45 pm, after two-and-half hour long obstruction by the opposition parties. The next meeting of the Parliament is scheduled to start at 1 pm tomorrow.

Before announcing adjournment of the session, Nembang said he wishes to begin the process of drafting the constitution and sought cooperation from all parties to forge agreement to promulgate the constitution.
The effort made by prominent Madhesi leader Vijaya Kumar Gachhadar to find a middle way for reaching an agreement to resolve the key issues, could not succeed after Maoist chief Prachanda rejected the move.
