NASA Shares Dazzling Picture Of Mercury, Netizens React
Millions of netizens are mesmerised by the dazzling picture of the stunning Mercury shared by the Instagram handle of the space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Describing the picture captured by MESSENGER, the first spacecraft to ever orbit the planet, NASA on its Instagram handle wrote, "Slightly larger than Earth's Moon, Mercury is the smallest planet in the solar system, and is the closest to the Sun at an average of 36 million miles (58 million km) away. While Mercury may be the smallest planet, it is also the speediest, travelling in its orbit at almost 29 miles (47 km) per second, making a year on Mercury just 88 Earth days."
The NASA further added that Mercury appears to be tan with several shades of blue and craters on its surface.
The picture was taken by MESSENGER, the first spacecraft to ever orbit the planet Mercury. The spacecraft collected pictures to differentiate chemical, mineralogical, and physical differences in rocks on the planet's surface.
While sharing a post on the Instagram, NASA wrote, Mercury which is the smallest planet in the solar system and is the closest to the Sun at an average of 36 million miles (58 million km) away. However, despite its proximity to the Sun, Mercury is not the hottest planet in our solar system.
