Murder Case Filed Against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi Linked to Deaths of Paramilitary Soldiers

A murder case has been initiated against Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, his wife Bushra Bibi, and senior party leaders. This is in relation to the deaths of paramilitary soldiers during a protest last month. The incident involved three Rangers soldiers being killed and another injured in a car accident allegedly caused by a supporter in Islamabad.

Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi Face Murder Charges

The First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at Ramna Police Station in Islamabad. A Rangers official filed the complaint, claiming the incident was orchestrated in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, where Khan is imprisoned, according to The Express Tribune. The FIR names Khan and his wife as primary suspects.

Accusations Against Party Leaders

Several senior party leaders are accused of conspiring in the plan. These include Ali Amin Gandapur, Umar Ayub, Waqas Akram, Salman Akram Raja, Murad Saeed, Zulfi Bukhari, Rauf Hassan, and Hammad Azhar. The report suggests that the plan was devised during meetings between leaders and certain prisoners at the jail.

The FIR alleges that the deaths of the Rangers personnel were ordered by Khan and involved senior leadership. It claims the plan aimed to target security forces and was discussed in various meetings within the jail premises.

Witnesses and Incitement Allegations

Several witnesses to the plot have been identified in the FIR. These include prisoners, labourers, and secret police employees within the jail. Additionally, it states that Bushra Bibi and other party leaders incited public unrest through a video message urging rebellion against the army and government.

The leadership is accused of inciting violence through their calls for public unrest. Political experts suggest this new case could add to Khan's existing legal troubles. He already faces nearly 200 cases, most filed after his government fell in April 2022 following a no-confidence vote.
