Damascus/ Mumbai, August 27: Arif Fayyaz Majeed, a Mumbai youth who had joined the lethal Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has been reportedly killed in Syria.

The media reports claimed that the Sunni militant group has mentioned the news of an Indian being killed in Mosul in Syria, on its website.

The reports also said that Arif's parents were informed about his death on Tuesday night, when an 'unknown' person made a call to them. However, he didn't inform about the other three youths who had also joined ISIS along with Arif.

Before, leaving his family, Arif had written a long letter to his family, in which he had cited various reasons to join ISIS.

"I am migrating to the land of Allah to wage jihad (war for Islam). May we all meet in heaven", he had written in a note.

21-year-old Arif, a civil engineering student, hailed from Kalyan area of Mumbai.

All four youths- Arif Majid, Aman Tandel, Fahad Shaikh and Saleem Tanki, who belonged to affluent and educated families, went missing since May 23.

All of them had adopted an austere lifestyle before leaving for Iraq. There were lot of changes in their behaviour like they stopped their family members from watching television and also donated their denims and shirts.

Their friends and teachers could hardly believe that they have joined ISIS.
