Muhammad Yunus Advocates For Equal Rights, Unity Across Religions And Institutional Reform

The chief advisor of Bangladesh's internal government, Muhammad Yunus, emphasised that everyone has equal rights. "As the people of this country, we are not divided in getting rights; we are one people, and we do not make difference between one right and another. Please help us. Be patient; you will judge later whether you can do something or not. If not, blame us," he stated during his visit to Dhakesari temple on Tuesday afternoon.

Upon his arrival at the Dhakeshwari temple, Yunus was warmly received by Hindu community leaders. He highlighted that their democratic aspirations transcend religious identities, stating, "Because of our democratic aspirations, we are not considered Muslims, Hindus, or Buddhists, but human beings. Let our rights be guaranteed."

Institutional Reforms

Yunus pointed out the root cause of many issues lies in flawed institutional arrangements. "The root of all the problems is that whatever institutional arrangements we have made, everything is rotten. This is why the noises are happening. Institutional arrangements need to be fixed," he remarked.

He further elaborated on justice and equality under the law: "If justice is done, who will not get justice? What kind of species do I see? What kind? What is said in the law? If that community will go to that court, if that community will go to that court? The law is one. Who has the ability to differentiate between that one and that one? It can't be."

Democratic Rights

Yunus stressed the importance of establishing democratic rights as a foundation for freedom and human rights. "We need to establish democratic rights. If we get that, we will get freedom of speech. They are there-nothing new. We have to establish human rights. This is our main goal," he asserted.

Addressing anger and conflict, Yunus advised against letting anger drive actions: "Do not go away in anger. All kinds of fights happen when you get angry. Be together." He called for unity and equality among people.

The event saw participation from notable figures such as Vasudev Dhar, President of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad, along with other leaders from the Hindu community.

Yunus's visit underscored a message of unity and equal rights for all citizens regardless of their religious affiliations.
