Louisiana Miracle: Baby Survives Two Days of Stormy Weather by Highway

A Louisiana sheriff reported that a one-year-old baby survived two days of harsh weather before being found by a truck driver. This discovery came a day after the child's four-year-old brother was found dead and their mother was arrested in Mississippi. Sheriff Gary Stitch Guillory of Calcasieu Parish stated that the baby had multiple bug bites but was otherwise in good health.

Authorities discovered the body of the four-year-old on Monday in a lake behind an Interstate 10 welcome centre near the Texas state line. Autopsy reports are still pending. The child had last been seen on Saturday with his mother, Aaliyah Jack, and the one-year-old sibling. Miracle Baby Found

On Tuesday morning, a truck driver called 911 after spotting the baby crawling along a roadside. Sheriff Guillory expressed his relief, saying, "We look at this one-year old as our miracle baby because he was still alive." The search for the child occurred amid intermittent heavy rain and high wind gusts from Hurricane Beryl, which struck east Texas early on Monday.

Jack was arrested on Monday night in Meridian, Mississippi, over 350 miles from where her children were found. She faces a charge of failure to report a missing child and will be extradited to Louisiana. A judge set her bond at USD 300,000. As of Wednesday afternoon, no additional charges were pending, according to Kayla Vincent, a spokeswoman for the sheriff.

Sheriff Guillory noted that despite the severe weather conditions, "This kid spent two days out in the weather on the side of the highway."
