Millions to cast vote in Britain on Thursday
London, May 7: Millions of voters to cast their votes on Thursday to decide the fate candidates contesting the most unpredictable election ever in Britain.
Voting began at 7:00 BST at around 50,000 polling stations across the country to elect 650 Westminster MPs.
About 50 million registered voters are likely to use their franchise in the election, BBC reported.
Things to know about Britain election
As well as the general election, there are more than 9,000 council seats being contested across 279 English local authorities.
Mayors
will
also
be
elected
in
Bedford,
Copeland,
Leicester,
Mansfield,
Middlesbrough
and
Torbay.
Online
voting
has
also
been
introduced
in
this
election.
Polling
stations
have
been
set
up
in
schools,
community
centres
and
parish
halls,
but
pubs,
a
launderette
and
a
school
bus
will
also
be
used.
Result for a handful of seats are expected to be declared by midnight, with the final results expected on Friday afternoon.
