Migrant Crisis: Egyptian businessman wants to buy an island to host refugees
Cairo, Sept 4: An Egyptian billionaire businessman has asked Greece and Italy to sell him an island and develop it as new home for hundreds of thousands of people fleeing from conflict hit countries.
Wars in Iraq and Syria, unrest in the African continent and chaos in Libya have spurred exodus of refugees in European Union. In 2014, over 170,000 people sailed in Italy fleeing persecution and poverty.
Egyptian billionaire businessman Naguib Sawiris first announced this on Twitter on September 1.
Tens of thousands of people, mainly from Africa and the Middle East, try to reach Europe by sailing the sea, often dangerously packed into small vessels that are never designed to cross the Mediterranean.
A heat breaking picture of minor Syrian boy created uproar on social media and left the World shocked over migrant crisis.
