Meloni Vows Italy’s Continued Support For Ukraine Amid Talks
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's unwavering support for Ukraine was reaffirmed following a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the annual TEHA business forum at Lake Como, focused on Ukraine's strategies to end the war with Russia and efforts for reconstruction, as reported by India Today.

Meloni Vows Italy's Support For Ukraine
During the forum, Meloni emphasized Italy's steadfast commitment to supporting Ukraine, declaring that the nation's stance would not waver. This decision, she asserted, was both morally justified and aligned with Italy's national interests, aimed at upholding principles designed to protect national integrity.
Meloni's commitment was described as a choice that would remain unchanged, with China and India also identified as having crucial roles in the resolution of the conflict. The idea of abandoning Ukraine as a means to resolve the conflict was dismissed by Meloni, who labeled it as incorrect, as reported by India Today.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg had earlier urged China to cease its support for Russia's war efforts, asserting that Beijing's assistance had significantly contributed to the conflict's persistence. In response, China had previously dismissed similar statements from NATO as biased and malicious.
The notion that the outcome of the war was already predetermined was dismissed by Meloni as "Russian propaganda." She highlighted that Western support was instrumental in creating conditions that could lead to eventual peace talks. Meloni contended that peace talks are necessitated by a stalemate, a situation that the West has played a role in establishing.
President Zelenskyy, speaking at the forum, stressed the need for continued and comprehensive support from allies to ensure Ukraine's strong position in any forthcoming negotiations with Russia. Zelenskyy, in a post on X, noted that discussions with Meloni covered not only his peace plans but also Ukraine's reconstruction strategy, particularly focusing on the nation's energy infrastructure, as per media reports.
Prior to their meeting, Zelenskyy had engaged with numerous Italian business leaders, discussing opportunities related to next year's reconstruction conference. It was announced that companies would be able to bid for contracts, and a digital platform for the reconstruction event would be introduced in the near future.
