Melania Trump’s Memoir Cover Sparks Copycat Controversy

Melania Trump's upcoming memoir, set for release on October 1, has stirred controversy even before hitting the shelves, primarily due to its strikingly similar cover design to an existing fashion book.

The memoir, titled Melania, has drawn attention for its cover, which mirrors the design of Chanel Catwalk, a book by French author Patrick Mauries published in 2020, as reported by Hindustan Times.

The cover of Trump's memoir features the title in white text on a plain black background, closely resembling the design elements of Maurie's book. This similarity has sparked accusations of "copycat" behaviour, echoing previous controversies surrounding Trump. Notably, in 2016, Trump was criticized for allegedly incorporating elements from Michelle Obama's Democratic National Convention speech into her own Republican National Convention address.

In a recent social media post, Trump promoted her memoir, sharing an Amazon link and describing the book as a personal narrative shaped by her experiences and challenges. "Our lives are shaped by our experiences, challenges, and achievements. For the first time, I share my journey with you, in my new memoir, Melania," she wrote.

Despite the promotional efforts, the memoir has faced backlash for its design choices. Critics, including journalist Victoria Brownworth, have questioned the decision to forgo a photograph of Trump on the cover, especially given her prior dissatisfaction with not being featured on a Vogue cover during her time as First Lady. Some have pointed out the irony and perceived lack of originality in the cover's design.

The memoir's office describes it as "a powerful and inspiring story of a woman who has carved her own path, overcome adversity, and defined personal excellence." However, the absence of a photo and the cover's resemblance to Chanel Catwalk has led to scepticism and critique. Readers and critics alike have taken to social media to voice their opinions, with some expressing disappointment over the book's design and content, as per media reports.

As the release date approaches, Melania Trump's memoir continues to attract both attention and controversy, highlighting the challenges of navigating public perception and design in the literary world.
