Manu Bhaker Returns To India With Historic Double Olympic Medals From Paris 2024
Manu Bhaker, India's first athlete to clinch two Olympic medals in a single edition arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday after her triumphant performance at the Paris Games 2024.
A video showing her parents arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi has, confirming her imminent return to India. Crowds have gathered outside the airport to celebrate and welcome the 22-year-old for her historic achievements at the Paris Olympics.

Manu Bhaker made history by becoming the first Indian markswoman to win an Olympic medal when she secured a bronze in the individual 10m air pistol event. She then teamed up with Sarabjot Singh to win another bronze in the mixed team 10m air pistol event.
On Tuesday, Bhaker was honoured by Nita Ambani, an International Olympic Committee (IOC) member and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, alongside shooter and fellow bronze-medalist at India House in Paris. This recognition adds to her list of accolades from the games.
Flagbearer Honour
In addition to her medals, Manu Bhaker was declared the flagbearer for India at the closing ceremony of the ongoing Summer Games. This role is a significant honour for any athlete. "I am honoured. This will be once in a lifetime opportunity and I will always cherish it as many years as possible in my sports career...It will be an honour of a lifetime. I will always cherish it," said Bhaker.
Meanwhile, Vinesh Phogat also made headlines on Tuesday by becoming the first Indian woman wrestler to reach an Olympic final. She secured her spot with a dominant 5-0 victory over Cuba's Yusneylis Guzman Lopez in the 50kg category, ensuring herself at least a silver medal.
