Manhattan attacker is Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov from Uzbekistan

The police managed to shoot the suspect.

A man mowed down civilians at Manhattan in a rented truck. 8 persons including one from Argentina were killed and several others injured in the attack near the World Trade Centre.

The police managed to shoot the suspect. He has been operated upon and is said to have spoken to the police. He had jumped down from the truck and held up two fake guns and screamed Allahu Akbar.

The police have identified him as Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov. He is from Uzbekistan and came to the United States in 2010. A note stating that the attack was staged in the name of the ISIS was found in the truck.

CNN reported with an image of the suspect which was taken in October 2016 after he was arrested in St Charles County Mo. St Charles County public affairs officer Val Joyner tells CNN's Jamiel Lynch that Saipov was arrested on a warrant by the Missouri State Highway Patrol on October 21, 2016.
