Magnitude 6.6 Earthquake Strikes Panama, No Tsunami Alert
An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 struck off the Caribbean Sea just off the Panama-Colombia border on Thursday but no tsunami warning was issued, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The USGS said the quake was centered about 41 kilometers (25 miles) northeast of Puerto Obalda, Panama. The epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles).

However, there were no immediate reports of any injuries or damage.
In Panama, civil protection agency Sinaproc said there had been no immediate reports of damages and they were monitoring the situation.
In the Colombian metropolis of Medellin, local officials said no damages had been reported.
The US Tsunami Warning System said there was no tsunami warning in place.
