A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck central Pakistan in the early hours of Sunday, June 29, 2025. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the tremor occurred at approximately 3:30 am local time, with the epicenter situated around 60 kilometers north-northeast of Barkhan in the Balochistan province. Other monitoring agencies, including the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) and the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, placed the epicenter roughly 149 kilometers west of Multan, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.
There have been no immediate reports of casualties or major structural damage. Residents in the affected areas, including Musakhel and surrounding regions, felt the tremors. Local authorities continue to assess the situation and monitor for any developments.

Pakistan remains seismically active due to its position along the boundary between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. The country has a history of experiencing powerful and destructive earthquakes.
