Lt Gen Qamar Bajwa is new Pakistan army chief
Lt Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa heads the army's training and evaluation wing. He was the commander of the X-Corps which is responsible for the area along the Line of Control.
Lt Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa has been appointed as the next army chief of Pakistan. He will take over from General Raheel Sharif who retires on November 29. In the list of probables his list figured last. Analysts had said that his name could be the surprise pick.
Lt Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa heads the army's training and evaluation wing. He was the commander of the X-Corps which is responsible for the area along the Line of Control. He has served as chief of Force Command Northern Areas and also commanded as Brigadier. He belongs to the Baloch regiment and is vastly experienced in Pakistan occupied Kashmir and northern area issues.
The appointment was made by Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif on Saturday. The PM also appointed Lt General Zubair as the Chairman of the Joint Chief of the Staff Committee.
