London Sword Attack: UK Man Arrested, Five Injured In Stabbings | WATCH

A horrifying incident occurred near a Tube station in northeast London involving a man wielding a sword and reportedly attacking members of the public and police officers.

According to UK media reports, the man, armed with a sword, drove a vehicle into a house on Thurlow Gardens before allegedly stabbing multiple people.

Five individuals were treated by emergency workers and transported to the hospital, as confirmed by the London Ambulance Service. The 36-year-old suspect reportedly assaulted two police officers before being apprehended. The police have stated that the incident is not being treated as terror-related, as reported by Metro UK.

    The Metropolitan Police were informed of the incident shortly before 7 am this morning. Various emergency services, including fire and rescue crews and multiple ambulances, were dispatched to the scene. The current condition of those injured remains unknown, and authorities have indicated that they are not seeking any additional suspects.

    "This must have been a terrifying incident for those involved," stated Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan, as reported by the Associated Press. "I know the wider community will be feeling shock and alarm. People will want to know what has happened, and we will provide more information as soon as we can," as reported by Hindustan Times.

    Adelekan further shared that they are not looking for additional suspects and that this incident does not appear to be terror-related.

    British Home Secretary James Cleverly mentioned that he is being regularly updated on the incident, as per Uk Media reports.

    "I am receiving regular updates about the incident at Hainault Station this morning. My thoughts are with those affected, and thank you to the emergency responders," he posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. "I would urge people not to speculate or share footage online and to provide relevant information to the police."

    Meanwhile talking about the incident, London Mayor Sadiq Khan expressed his concerns and was "absolutely devastated". "The police offices and emergency services showed the best of our city -- running towards danger to protect others and I thank them from the bottom of my heart," Khan said.

    In response to the incident, the Hainault Tube station in Ilford has been closed downby police. "Hainault underground station is closed due to a police investigation in the area," Transport for London wrote on the microblogging site.
