Initial Toxicology Report Indicates Cocaine Presence in Liam Payne's System at Time of Death

An initial toxicology report has revealed that former One Direction member Liam Payne had cocaine in his system after his death. Payne died last week after falling from a third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. The Argentine official, who shared this information, noted that the final toxicology results will not be available for several weeks.

Cocaine Found in Liam Paynes Toxicology Report

Payne's autopsy confirmed that his fatal injuries were consistent with a fall from the hotel window. Prosecutors have ruled out the involvement of any other individuals. Argentine investigators discovered what appeared to be narcotics and alcohol among broken items and furniture in Payne's hotel room. This led the public prosecution to suspect that Payne experienced a substance-induced breakdown around the time of his fall.

Substance Abuse Investigation

The preliminary toxicology report, provided to local prosecutors, indicated exposure to cocaine. However, it does not accurately reflect the amount present in his bloodstream at the time of death. The official who disclosed this information requested anonymity due to lack of authorization to speak to journalists. Local media widely reported on these findings.

Photos allegedly taken inside Payne's hotel room showed a snowlike powder on a table and a damaged TV screen. Police also found clonazepam, a central nervous system depressant, and various over-the-counter medications among Payne's belongings. Shortly before his death, the hotel manager called 911 to report a guest behaving aggressively under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Reactions and Ongoing Investigations

Fans and prominent figures in the music industry have expressed deep sorrow over Payne's passing. His father, Geoff Payne, remains in Buenos Aires, coordinating with prosecutors and local officials to arrange for the repatriation of his son's remains. Argentine authorities plan to release the body next week, allowing Geoff Payne to return to England for a funeral.

Investigators are working to determine who supplied Payne with the drugs he consumed at the CasaSur Hotel in Palermo, an upscale area of Buenos Aires. Police have interviewed at least three hotel employees and two women who visited Payne's room hours before his death.

On Sunday, hundreds of dedicated One Direction fans gathered in England to mourn the singer. The public prosecution is investigating this case as it involves an unexpected death, which is standard procedure in Argentina.
