Kurram Violence: Six Dead Following Rocket Attack on Aid Convoy in Pakistan
The death toll from a rocket attack on an aid convoy in Pakistan's Kurram district has increased to six, as reported by officials on Friday. The incident occurred on Thursday when a convoy of 35 vehicles transporting food and medical supplies to Kurram was targeted with rockets and automatic weapons.

Following the attack, some vehicles carrying relief materials from Thall to Parachinar in the Bagan Bazar area were set ablaze by the assailants. Kurram is located in the volatile Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Initial reports indicated that a Pakistani soldier was killed, along with six attackers in retaliatory action.
Security Measures and Rising Violence
On Friday, official sources confirmed that another security personnel had died, raising the number of law enforcement casualties to two. The bodies of four truck drivers, who went missing during the attack, were found in the Erwali area of Lower Kurram. Officials stated that these drivers were tortured before being killed.
The deceased drivers' bodies have been transported to Ali Zai Hospital, according to hospital authorities. A senior security official from Peshawar mentioned that four vehicles were damaged in the attack, but the remaining convoy managed to reach safety after crossing Chapri.
Government Response and Curfew
A curfew has been imposed in the tribal district, with security forces taking positions and patrolling the area. Meanwhile, terrorist attacks have been increasing in Lower Kurram's Bagan, Char Khel, Mandori, and Ochut areas, posing significant challenges for the government.
The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to launch an operation to restore public order in the district. Unrest has persisted since November last year following an attack on a passenger van convoy.
Temporary Displacement and Humanitarian Concerns
Kurram's Deputy Commissioner issued a notification for establishing Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDP) camps in Thall and Hangu for those potentially affected by counterterrorism operations. Camps will be set up at Thall Degree College, Technical College, the Rescue building, and court premises.
The district administration stated that these camps aim to ensure population safety during operations. A committee has been formed under the Additional Deputy Commissioner's supervision to oversee these efforts.
Sectarian clashes between Shia and Sunni tribes have resulted in at least 130 deaths since November last year. Food and medicine shortages have been reported due to prolonged road blockades in the region. Although a peace agreement was reached on January 1, the route connecting Parachinar remains blocked.
