Kim John Un To Meet Russian President Vladimir Putin Amid Ukraine War

The Kremlin on Monday confirmed that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is all set to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on latter's invitation.

In a statement issued by the Kremlin, it was stated "At the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un, Chairman of State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, will pay an official visit to the Russian Federation in the coming days."

However, the Kremlin has not cleared about the agenda of the meeting. According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Putin arrived in Vladivostok on Monday while Kim appears to be on a train heading to Russia as per a South Korean government official.

According to various media reports, the North Korean leader has left Pyongyang late on Sunday and is expected to meet Putin by Tuesday.

Recent overtures have signalled closer military between the nuclear-armed North Korea and Russia amid Ukraine war.

North Korea is one of those countries who has extended their support for Russia since the advent of the Ukraine War last year. However, the Russian president decided to expand bilateral ties in a planned way by pooling efforts.

Kim Jong Un's last trip abroad in 2019 was also to Vladivostok for his first summit with Vladimir Putin after the collapse of North Korea's nuclear disarmament talks with former US president Donald Trump.

According to the US officials, Putin and Kim would likely have a summit over military cooperation and a possible deal to supply arms to Russia amid the Ukraine War.
