Khalistani Terror Accused Harpreet Singh To Be Extradited From US To India
Harpreet Singh, also known by his alias Happy Passia, a US-based Khalistani terrorist wanted in connection with a series of blasts across Punjab, is being extradited to India according NDTV . Singh, originally from Amritsar, was apprehended in Sacramento, California, in April 2025 by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), following a coordinated operation with Indian intelligence agencies.
Accused in Multiple Terror Incidents Across Punjab
Singh is facing charges in over 30 criminal cases in India, including at least 16 grenade attacks carried out between 2024 and 2025. These attacks targeted police stations, key infrastructure, and private residences of public figures throughout Punjab. Among the more high-profile incidents attributed to him are the grenade blast at Ghanie Ke Bangar police station in Gurdaspur in December 2024 and an earlier attack on the residence of a retired Punjab police officer in Chandigarh in October 2024.

Links to Babbar Khalsa and Pakistan's ISI
Authorities have identified Singh as a key figure in the Pakistan-sponsored Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) network. He is believed to have maintained direct communication with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to carry out the attacks.
After illegally entering the United States via Mexico in 2021, Singh managed to avoid detection by using burner phones and encrypted communication platforms, allowing him to remotely coordinate terror operations in India.
Legal Action and Reward
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had announced a reward of ₹5 lakh for any information that would lead to Singh's arrest. He is facing multiple charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosive Substances Act.
Extradition Imminent
Singh is expected to be brought to Delhi in the coming days under heightened security. Upon arrival, he will be taken into custody by Indian authorities for formal arrest, prosecution, and extensive interrogation.
Strategic Significance
Indian intelligence and law enforcement agencies see Singh's extradition as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on ISI-sponsored Khalistani terror networks operating abroad. Investigators believe Singh's questioning could yield valuable insights into cross-border terror financing, the recruitment and training of operatives, and the digital tools used to plan and execute attacks from overseas safe havens.
His return is expected to mark a key turning point in India's broader strategy to disrupt international terror networks with links to Pakistan-based groups.
