KFC In Rawalpindi Stormed By Protesters: Why Did It Happen? Watch Viral Video
On Sunday, April 13, anti-Israel protesters stormed a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) restaurant in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, disrupting a busy evening. The restaurant, located in Saddar, was filled with customers when a group of ten to twelve demonstrators entered, shouting slogans and vandalising the eatery. They also verbally abused patrons, demanding that everyone leave.
A viral video of the incident shows protesters causing damage to the restaurant and intimidating customers, who were seen fleeing the establishment in fear. The video also displayed a Palestinian flag. According to reports, the KFC manager filed a first information report (FIR), describing how the group arrived around 8:30 pm, threatened staff and customers, and used abusive language when confronted.
Police later identified the individuals involved using CCTV footage and promised swift action. The incident quickly spread across social media, with the video gaining over 100,000 views on X, formerly Twitter. Many social media users reacted with mixed comments, with some commenting on the irony of KFC sponsoring the Pakistan Super League (PSL) while others expressed surprise at the presence of KFC in Pakistan.
This attack follows a similar incident in Karachi, where a mob targeted a KFC outlet on April 9 due to perceived ties to Israel and the ongoing Gaza conflict. KFC and other US brands are facing boycotts in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and other countries in response to these perceived associations.
The authorities have assured the public that they are taking immediate action to address the issue, with further investigations underway into the Rawalpindi incident. The unrest highlights the growing tensions over the Israel-Palestine conflict and its impact on international businesses operating in the region.
