French-Israeli Airport Worker Dances at Tribe of Nova Music Festival Despite Fractured Leg!
Read the inspiring story of Karin Journo, a French-Israeli airport worker who defied all odds by attending the Tribe of Nova music festival despite having a fractured leg. Discover her determination and love for life as she dances through adversity.
The Tribe of Nova music festival was supposed to be a joyous occasion for 24-year-old Karin Journo. The French-Israeli airport worker had been looking forward to celebrating the departure of one of her friends to the United States. But just a week before the festival, Hamas militants turned the party into a killing ground.

Karin had initially talked herself out of going to the festival because of a fracture in her right leg. But when she learned that a bunch of her friends were going, she changed her mind and bought another ticket. On the night of the festival, she snapped a photo of herself in her party gear—black shorts and a black halter top—and headed out to dance the night away.
Video footage from that night shows Karin waving her arms to the thumping beats, though she was rooted to the spot by the gray protective boot that encased her right foot and calf all the way up to her knee. This made her easy to recognize in subsequent video footage filmed as Hamas started to launch its deadly attack.
A Father's Anguish
Karin's father, Doron Journo, says that his daughter sent a final text to her loved ones at 8:43 that Saturday morning. "To the whole family, I want to say that I love you a lot, because I am not coming home," she wrote.
Since that message, the Journo family has heard nothing. They don't know if Karin is dead or if she is being held captive in Gaza. "My daughter didn't go to war," Doron says. "She just went to dance."
The story of Karin Journo is a heartbreaking reminder of the senselessness of war. A young woman who was simply trying to have a good time with her friends was killed in a brutal attack. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Journo family and all those who have been affected by this tragedy.
