Judge: Oscar Pistorius not guilty of premediated murder

Oscar Pistorius to receive verdict
Pretoria, Sept 11: Double amputee Olyimpic runner Oscar Pistorius who faced charges of premediated murder and illegal possession of ammunition, was pronounced not guilty of premediated murder.

The judge said that the state hadn't proved Pistorius of premediated murder and that evidence purely circumstantial.

Pistorius is facing charges of murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Pistorius could face 25 years in prison if found guilty. Judge Masipa said that allegations of police contamination of evidence was insignificant.

Judge Masipa read and recounted events in the chronological order as told to the court. Pistorius was seen weeping when the judge read out that witnesses heard shots being fired. Judge said that most witnesses got their facts wrong and that it would be unwise to rely on ear witness testimony without comparing their statements to objective evidence.

The murder trial went on for 6 months. Pistorius in his defense had said that he shot at Reeva thinking it was an intruder who had entered his home.
