John Kerry greets Bhutan on its National Day
Washington, Dec 18: US Secretary of State John Kerry extended his greetings to Bhutan on its National Day, and praised the Himalayan country's commitment to protecting its natural environment, calling it a gift for future generations.
"Bhutan's commitment to protecting its natural environment is a gift to future generations that we acknowledge with deep gratitude. We also appreciate Bhutan's critical contributions to UN peacekeeping missions around the world," Kerry said.

In a statement, Kerry extended his best wishes and congratulated the people of Bhutan as they celebrated the 108th anniversary of their National Day yesterday.
Kerry said the US attaches great importance to warm ties between the people of the two countries and to their shared commitment to address climate change and other global challenges.
"As societies with a shared commitment to democracy and the rule of law, the United States and Bhutan are supporting institutions and values that have brought peace and prosperity to the Indo-Pacific region and the world. I look forward to opportunities in the New Year to deepen the cooperation between our countries," Kerry said.
