Joe Biden Administration Thanks New US President Donald Trump After Gaza Deal
The US State Department acknowledged President-elect Donald Trump's significant contribution to the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Gaza. Matthew Miller, the department's spokesperson, expressed gratitude towards Trump for collaborating with the Joe Biden administration. He emphasised that Trump's involvement was crucial in finalising the deal.
"When it comes to the involvement of President-Elect Trump's team, it has been absolutely critical in getting this deal over the line. It's been critical because obviously, as I stand here today, this administration's term in office will expire in five days…We, of course, thank the Trump team for working with us on this cease-fire agreement. We think it's important that they were at the table," he said.

Importance of Bipartisan Efforts
Miller highlighted that this achievement demonstrates how much can be accomplished when Americans unite beyond political divisions. He noted that working together across party lines serves the national interests of the United States effectively.
"It shows that when Americans are willing to work together across partisan lines, as we were willing to do on this occasion because it's in the national interests of the United States, a lot can get done," Matthew Miller said.
Details of the Ceasefire Agreement
The truce agreement involves a three-phase plan where both Israel and Hamas have agreed to halt hostilities. This war began on October 7, 2023. The deal includes provisions for releasing numerous hostages held by Hamas in Gaza and hundreds of Palestinian prisoners detained in Israel.
This collaboration between Trump's team and Biden's administration underscores a rare moment of bipartisan cooperation. It highlights how political differences can be set aside for greater national and international interests.
The State Department's acknowledgment of Trump's role signifies an appreciation for efforts made by both administrations. This cooperation was pivotal in achieving a peaceful resolution to ongoing conflicts in Gaza.
As President-elect Trump prepares to take office, his involvement in such international matters sets a tone for future diplomatic engagements. The successful negotiation reflects positively on both outgoing and incoming administrations.
