It was the best day in history says Donald Trump as his ratings soar

Former US president, Donald Trump said that his arraignment in the hush money case was probably the 'best day in history.'

He said that he had suffered an unjustifiable indictment. With his arrest, Trump has emerged as a victim of political persecution and a left-wing conspiracy, making him the most popular Republican.

Taking to Truth Social, Trump wrote, " as much as I can enjoy a day like Tuesday, where the radical Left lunatics, maniacs, and perverts had me indicted and arrested for reason whatsoever, there was no crime. It was and unbelievable experience, perhaps the best day in history for somebody who had just suffered unjustifiable indictment. My poll numbers have never been better, almost $10 million was raised for the campaign, and the day was. Capped off with a very important speech. If we don't stop the radical Left, America is dead."

Trump also called on Republicans in Congress to slash funding for the US Justice Department and FBI. To be sure the criminal proceedings against Trump were pursued by the Manhattan District Attorney and not the federal law enforcement agencies.

"Republicans in Congress should defund the DOJ and FBI until they come to their senses. The Democrats have totally weaponised law enforcement in our country and we are viciously using this abuse of power to interfere with our already under siege elections," Trump also said.

Meanwhile, a Reuters/Ispos poll showed that around half of the Americans population think that the investigation against Trump is politically motivated. However 70 per cent felt that the US presidents should not have immunity from all but the most serious charges. A major portion believe that none should be above the law, the Reuters report also said.

The Manhattan court has set the date for the next date of hearing on December 4. This would take place at a time when campaigning for the Republican presidential nomination would be intensifying.

The Reuters report while citing legal experts said that a trial may not even get underway for a year. An indictment or even a conviction will not prevent Trump legally from running for president.
