Bolivia Severs Diplomatic Ties with Israel

Bolivia's decision to sever diplomatic ties with Israel has been condemned by Israel as a "surrender to terrorism." Bolivia had previously severed diplomatic ties with Israel in 2009 only to resume them in 2020.
Chile and Colombia Recall Ambassadors
Chile and Colombia have both recalled their ambassadors to Israel in protest of the killing of civilians in Gaza. Chile's President Gabriel Boric has condemned the attacks and kidnappings perpetrated by Hamas, but he has also said that "innocent civilians" are the "main victims of Israel's offensive."
Colombia's President Condemns Israel's Actions
Colombia's President Gustavo Petro has been more direct in his criticism of Israel's actions, calling them "genocide" and accusing Israel of trying to remove the Palestinian people from Gaza and take it over.
Argentina and Brazil Criticize Israel
Argentina and Brazil have also criticized Israel's military activity in Gaza. Argentina has condemned the attack in the Jabaliya refugee camp and said the "humanitarian situation in Gaza is ever more alarming." Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has called on Israel to end its bombing of Gaza.
Jewish Human Rights Organization Condemns Bolivia, Chile, and Colombia
The Simon Wiesenthal Center, a Jewish human rights organization, has criticized Bolivia, Chile, and Colombia for their diplomatic moves. The center has accused Bolivia of aligning itself with Iran and called the decision by Colombia and Chile to recall their ambassadors "a clearly coordinated action."
