Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh Killed! Will Gaza War End Here Or Escalate

A statement from a Palestinian group on Wednesday confirmed that Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed in Iran a day ago. The killing happened hours after Ismail Haniyeh attended the swearing-in ceremony of Iran's president Masoud Pezeshkian.

"Brother, leader, mujahid Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the movement, died in a Zionist strike on his headquarters in Tehran after he participated in the inauguration of the new (Iranian) president," reads the statement from Hamas.

But what raised everyone's eyebrows was "Ismail Haniyeh's killing will not go unanswered", reads the statement from the Palestinian group.

According to some experts, the war between Israel and Hamas is not going to end so easily and in fact, the radical fighters will get another motive to avenge. Hamas may go underground for a while, until the group seeks another top leadership.

And like they have mentioned in the statement, they will hit back.

Earlier, Israel had vowed to kill Ismail Haniyeh and destroy the Hamas group after the October 7, 2023 attack that resulted in the deaths of 1,195 people, mostly civilians.

Later, in retaliation at least 39,400 people were killed, which was confirmed by Israel's health ministry in the Hamas-run territory.
