Islamist Hate Preacher Anjem Choudary Charged With 3 Terror Offences

Islamist hate preacher Anjem Choudary has been charged with three terror offences after being arrested in London last week, the Met Police has said.

According to the police, the British radical Islamist preacher is facing charges related to their involvement in a banned organization. The charges include being a member of the proscribed group, directing a terrorist organization, and holding meetings to promote support for the prohibited organization. The person is scheduled to make a court appearance in London on Monday, Reuters reported.

Anjem Choudary

He was once a top Islamist preacher. Choudary, the former leader of the now outlawed group al-Muhajiroun, gained notoriety for lauding the individuals behind the 9/11 attacks on the United States and expressing his desire to transform Buckingham Palace into a mosque.

In 2016, he was jailed in Britain for encouraging support for Islamic State. He was released in 2018. Notably, his followers have been associated with numerous plots across the world.

Police said Khaled Hussein, a 28-year-old Canadian man, was also taken into custody on the same day as Choudary. He was arrested upon his arrival at Heathrow Airport and is now facing charges of belonging to a proscribed organization.
