Is Vivek Ramaswamy Really Willing To Pay Rs. 83 Lakhs A Year For A Nanny?
Vivek Ramaswamy, a 38-year-old American billionaire and Republican presidential aspirant, is reportedly on the hunt for a nanny to care for his children. He's willing to offer an annual salary of $100,000 (approximately Rs 83 lakh) for the position, as reported by Business Insider.
Ramaswamy has been gaining popularity in recent weeks and is currently the second-preferred Republican candidate, following Donald Trump. His prominence rose significantly after the first GOP presidential debate in Wisconsin.

ABOUT THE NANNY SEARCH: As per the Business Insider report, the job listing for the nanny position appeared on EstateJobs.com, a website catering to affluent individuals seeking household staff such as butlers, chauffeurs, and private chefs. According to the listing, the nanny would be expected to work for 84 to 96 hours per week.
The job description characterized the family's lifestyle as one of "curiosity, adventure, and constant motion." It also stated, "This is an exceptional opportunity to join a high-profile family, contributing to the growth and development of their children while participating in unique family adventures."
The nanny would be part of a team of household staff responsible for providing "a seamless daily routine for the children", who were described as "gifted." The chosen candidate would work on a rotational schedule, with one week on duty followed by one week off. Travel would be a regular part of the job, often involving private flights, according to the job listing cited by News18.
Although the job ad did not mention the client's name, several details suggested it was related to the Ramaswamy family. Vivek and his wife Apoorva, who is a professor and physician at Ohio State University, have two sons. The ad also specified that the nanny should prepare vegetarian meals for the children, consistent with Ramaswamy's vegetarian dietary preferences. The ages of the children mentioned in the job listing matched the ages of the GOP leader's sons.
Business Insider reported that the job listing disappeared from EstateJobs.com after the news outlet informed the Ramaswamy campaign that it planned to publish the story.
RAMASWAMY'S EARLIER STANCE ON CHILDCARE COSTS: Interestingly, this generous salary offer for a nanny contrasts with Ramaswamy's previous stance on high childcare costs. In May, he proposed that people pay for childcare by deducting the amount from their potential future Social Security benefits. He suggested that Americans should access Social Security earlier in life to provide for their children instead of waiting until retirement.
HOW DID RAMASWAMY BECOME 'RICHIE-RICH': According to a Forbes report, Ramaswamy's wealth surpassed $1 billion in August. It primarily stems from his pharmaceutical research firm, Roivant Sciences, founded in 2014. The company went public in 2021, and its stock saw a nearly 40% increase in value that year. He has also earned over $260 million from Roivant in the form of salary, bonuses, and capital gains since its inception. In 2021, he stepped down as Roivant's CEO to focus on his political career.
In addition to his pharmaceutical venture, Ramaswamy started an "anti-woke" asset management firm called Strive in the same year. The company has been valued at $300 million, with Ramaswamy's stakes worth well above $100 million. He previously worked for the hedge fund QVT till 2014 after completing his education at Harvard and Yale.
